Beach

Myanmar serves as a perfect tourist destination for those who are looking for an ultimate and romantic beach escape, with about 1,200 miles of coastline and a series of beaches.

Ngapali Beach

Ngapali beach, one of the loveliest places in Myanmar, is very well-known for its natural, pure and unspoilt beauty up to today. It is a rarely visited place of Myanmar, hidden from the rest of the country by a mountain range.

Ngapali beach is located on the Bay of Bengal, about just 7 km away from Thandwe or Sandoway, one of the ancient Rakhine or Arakan towns. It is believed to be the legacy of a homesick Italian visitor. The beach stretches about 3 km with pure white sands skirting the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean fringed by coconut palms.

Indeed, Ngapali is not a single beach but an array of beaches seperated with small fishing villages stretching from Mazin where the airport is located, to Lontha on Mayo Bay where coastal steamers dock in a sheltered anchorage.

It offers the best land in Myanmar for sunbathing and recreation such as beach strolling, cycling and so on. What is different from currently popular beaches in Asia is that Ngapali beach is free of noisy and busy nightlife, and tourist crowds. Ngapali beach serves as only natural picturesque elegance of clear waters, white fine sand and the lovely sun. The sea is cobalt blue, free from any hazardous marine creatures.

The water is very clean and crystal clear and the sea is very clam. Bicycle tours can be organized to pay a visit to the surrounding villages. The villagers make a living by fishing, sun-drying of fish and shrimp, growing coconut. The best time to visit Ngapali beach is between October and May during which you can enjoy the blue and clear sky and warm temperatures. During rainy season going from June to September, the majority of hotels are closed.

Ngapali can be reached by air which takes just 45 minutes from Yangon and by car about 12 hours’ drive along the Rakhine Yoma mountain range. Ngapali has an international 18-holes golf resort, where you can relax and enjoy golfing. If you are seeking a relaxing and tranquil holiday with time to read and reflect, Ngapali beach is the best place to visit in Myanmar.

Ngapali beach extends its warmest welcome to all beach escapers, honeymooners and travellers who want a relaxing holiday complete peace of mind amidst beautiful scenery.

Chaung Tha Beach

Chaung Tha is a coast village and beach resort located in the Ayeyarwaddy region, Myanmar. It is about just 5-6 hours’ drive away from Yangon. At the southern end of the beach stands a small pagoda built on a limestone boulder, which is quite popular amongst travellers to Myanmar. Other major attractions in Chaung Tha are nearby fishing villages and tidal mangrove forests.

Out of three beaches in Myanmar on the Bay of Bengal, Chaung Tha is the humblest beach full of Yangonites. As such, the beach hums with activities and laughter. You can ride jet-skis, banana boats and rubber dinghies, offering in-the-water fun experience. On the beach, you can also enjoy horse riding and bicycling along the busy beach. It is very active, lively and colourful beach.

Although Chaung Tha beach lacks white-sand perfection, it is relatively more affordable than the other two more expensive and better maintained beaches. It offers some offshore islands to go around, fish and snorkel around. But quite the same as the other two beaches, Chaung Tha offers a delicious range of fresh and reasonably priced seafood. Eating seafood and drinking is obviously the most popular pastime in Chaung Tha.

If you are looking for affordable and easily accessible beach escape in local ways, Chaung Tha beach is for you.
